Green Clean your Coffee Pot

In the past have posted tutorials on how to clean your coffee maker. Come to think of it, I think it’s time to clean mine again. But what about the actual coffee pot? I don’t know about you but my pot gets pretty stained and it can be really difficult to get rid of  the discoloration on the glass. Did you know there is a super easy and totally organic, eco- friendly way to clean out your coffee pot. Oh, and it’s actually kind of fun too.
Today I am going to show you how to clean your coffee pot with just a few items from your kitchen.

Before: Oh so yucky. I’m ashamed to even show you.

For the record, I hadn’t even rinsed it yet so it wasn’t that bad!

 Supplies
1 tray of ice cubes
Salt
2 lemons cut into wedges

Mix up your lemons, ice cubes and salt

Start by adding the ice cubes into the pot. Then add the lemon and shake a couple tablespoons of salt over it all. Swish it around the pot. The coffee stains will  disappear! For stubborn stains take the lemon wedges and rub them into the salt and scrub down the glass.

Here’s how it works: The lemon is an acid. It helps to break down and dissolve the stains. The salt and ice act as abrasives to manually scrub down the walls of the pot. The result- a fresh and clean coffee pot!

We just got a new coffee maker so our pot is VERY clean. In the past I've used vinegar and water and run it though a brew cycle to clean the hard water out of the coffee maker. Thanks for this tip!

I've always done it the NON-eco-clean way. Comet cleanser and ice!
